Transport & marine

Over the past 20 years globalization has intensified the exchange of good around the world.

Viewed positively this meant sharing wealth and prosperity. But the great growth of internal trade brings also new threat for corporate and new responsibility for each actor. The role of the freight forwarder is to make arrangements which enable goods to travel from seller to buyer. This often involves a journey of several thousand miles, using more than one mode of transport.

When a freight forwarder is entrusted with someone else’s goods, they become legally responsible for taking all the necessary steps to protect and preserve that consignment. This means the forwarder is liable to the owner for any subsequent damage or loss. But on the other hand, as a shipper you must know that the liability of the carrier is limited by international convention, at Willis we can provide you a “door to door” insurance program for your shipment.
